The Tier 1 (exceptional talent) visa

The Tier 1 (exceptional talent) visa route covers applicants working in the fields of science, engineering, humanities and the arts.

To be eligible for this visa, an applicant must provide specific documents, including a endorsement by either:

• a recognised leader (exceptional talent)
• an emerging leader (exceptional promise)

Applicants must be outside the European Economic Area to apply under this visa category.

There are two stages to this application type, for which:

1. You must apply for an endorsement – within the current provisions; and
2. Once you have been endorsed, you can apply for the visa.

You may also be able to apply to bring your dependants to the UK, either at the same time as your application, or at a later date.
